Transferring an existing domain name involves changing the company that handles the domain registration service, so after the transfer itself, you will have to manage things like renewal payments or DNS entry modifications through the new registrar company. The transfer process itself is standard with most generic and country-code top-level domain name extensions. Certain country-code extensions are more specific and involve different steps, but in the general case transferring a domain involves several necessary procedures and one of them is unlocking the domain name. The lock is a security feature, which is being adopted by more and more domain name registry operators. It is a standard feature supported by all gTLDs. If a domain name is locked, it will be impossible to start a transfer process, so no one can even try to register your domain. The lock can be removed only through the account where the domain name is registered and all new domain names that support this functionality are locked by default when they are registered.

Registrar Lock in Cloud Hosting

Locking and unlocking a domain name registered through our company is very easy. This can be achieved through the Hepsia Control Panel, which is included with our Linux cloud packages, and will take exactly two mouse clicks. All your domain names will be displayed in alphabetical order in the Domain Manager section of the Control Panel and next to those whose extensions support the registrar lock option, you’ll notice a padlock-like symbol. Click on it once and you will notice the domain’s present status. Click once more and you’ll change its status. The update will take effect immediately without the need for you or for us to do anything else for the status to be ‘refreshed’ on WHOIS lookup sites, so you can proceed with the transfer straight away.

Registrar Lock in Semi-dedicated Hosting

If you’d like to transfer a domain name from our company to another registrar company and you’ve got a semi-dedicated server account, you’ll be able to get the domain name ready with just a couple of mouse clicks. All your domains will be listed in a separate section of the Hepsia Control Panel – the exact same tool via which you’ll administer your hosting account. If a specific generic or country-code TLD supports the registrar lock option, you will see a padlock-like icon. You can see whether the domain name is locked or not by clicking on that icon once and you can update the status by clicking again. That’s all it takes and there will be nothing else that you or we will need to do, so you can start the domain name transfer process straight away. The update will propagate immediately, so you will not need to wait for the status to be updated on WHOIS lookup websites.
